December 2011 Issue.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's
River Run has taken on the lights and aromas of Christmas getting ready for Santa to arrive. The Christmas trees are up and Barb is busy making festive goodies.
This will be Kayden's first Christmas and as new grand parents revel in the delight of having our whole family close for the holidays.
Today we hope to visit the Vancouver Christmas Market which is in the Queen Elizabeth Theater Plaza on Georgia St. It sounds like a wonderful old country style Christmas market. Who knows what treasures Nana and Pa will come home with.
In the New Year, Barb and I will be traveling with friends in Australia and New Zealand. We have decided to close the B&B from the 9th of January through to the 12th of February 2012.
We will be open for longer term stays during January and February if required.
We will be open again for Valentines Day starting the 13th of February.
David and Kristina, will be staying on the float home and Andrea will be answering emails, so our response time to enquiries may be delayed some what. We encourage you to book ahead if you are thinking of a February get-away.
We look forward to nmeeting you all in the New Year.
Merry Christmas and the Best of the New Year from Barb, Will and our Family.
Weekly Rates for longer term stays on the River.
In addition we will be offering for the first time a weekly rate for longer term stays on the river along with our nightly Bed and Breakfast options. These weekly rates are for self-catering and allow you to enjoy the river at your own pace. Additionally our two course breakfast can still be ordered when you feel the need to be pampered.
If you are interested please give Will a call and see what is available.
Until we meet again we wish you all good health and look forward to your next visit.

Notes for our US Travellers
Beginning June 1st, 2009, U.S. and Canadian citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate or a passport.
Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship (e.g. birth certificate). Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States. The NEXUS card continues to be a viable (and time saving) option for land, sea and air border crossings.
WHAT THIS CHANGE MEANS: This fairly minor change is the first phase of the land and sea portion of the US’ Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). Currently, oral declarations are accepted as a means of establishing citizenship and identity when crossing by land or sea. As of June 1st, 2009, government-issued documentation (as above) will be necessary when crossing a US land or sea border.
It is expected that a more substantial change, requiring a passport or NEXUS card for land and sea crossing will come anytime between June 2008 and June 2009, aligning the requirements of land and sea to those currently in place for cross border air travel. That date has not been released.
